Lady Bison Sweep Anderson-Shiro
RIGHT Freshman Latisha Jackson's athleticism strengthened the Lady Bison offense this week. Van'Go'photo The Lady Bison picked up two wins Tuesday night when they swept Anderson- Shiro at the varsity and junior varsity level. The junior varsity started things off with a 25-11 win over the Lady Owls. The varsity club scored a come from behind victory, 39-35.
Buffalo's junior varsity raced to a nine-two first quarter lead. Anderson-Shiro narrowed the gap with a halfcourt shot at the buzzer for a 15-9 halftime score. The Lady Bison added another nine in the third quarter, and shut out the Lady Owls to lead 24-9. Offense was hard to come by in the fourth. The only basket made was by Anderson Shiro.
Freshman guard Kelsey Canady popped the nets for eleven points to match the Lady Owls offensive output. Samantha Atkinson netted eight points while Reagan Read added three. Tristan Brewer scored two.
Anderson-Shiro's guard Misha Henderson had a hot hand to start the game, leading the Lady Owls to a fourteen to eight lead. Buffalo closed to 14-19 in a low scoring half.
The Lady Bison scored the first three field goals of the second half to take a 20- 19 lead. The rest of the quarter was basket for basket until the Lady Owls eased ahead 31-27 going into the fourth quarter. Buffalo outscored the Lady Owls 12-4 in the final eight minutes to pull out a 39-35 victory. Ashley Elsom nailed her first three of the game and sank four of four free throws down the stretch to help secure the win.
Elsom finished the night with eleven points. Karlee Ferguson netted nine points and Jami Davis tallied six. Latisha Jackson and Kaila Grissett contributed four points each. Lindsey McGill and Meredith Shaw added two points each. Erica Jones tacked on one.
