High winds ignite Burn Ban

The combination of high winds and dry conditions has left Leon County at risk for fires. Unfortunately, some county residents fail to "put two and two together", and have been burning trash, etc. anyway. Local volunteer fire departments were running themselves ragged on Monday responding to fires started by residents and fed by 20-30 MPH winds. In response, Judge Byron Ryder called for a burn ban, effective Monday afternoon, January 19th, encompassing the entire county.
