Eleanor Cranfill Edwards
On Christmas Day 2008, the Lord took home his precious saint, Eleanor Cranfill Edwards of Buffalo, formerly of Athens, Texas. Services were held at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with her pastor, Gene Bishop, officiating. She was buried with generations of her family at Campground Cemetery near Winthrop, Arkansas. Born in 1925, she was just a few weeks from being 84 years old. Those who went before her include; her husband, Boyce Lorenzo Edwards (who in 1976 also went to be with the Savior on Christmas Day); her parents, Martin Lee and Mary Elizabeth Howard Cranfill; brothers, Martin Lee J r. and Jame s Merwin (Buck) Cranfill,; her sister, Virginia Marie Cranfill Somers and her sonin law, Kenneth Lee Bennett of Houston.
Mrs. Edwards was the beloved Mother of Janice (Jan) Bennett Ramsey and Becky Edwards Sauntry and the Inspiration and Encourager for their store (Buffalo Gal). She had owned and operated several antique businesses of her own; over 20 years in Athens and a number of years in Lake Jackson, Texas. Among those who are left to miss her deeply are her other children; Rodney Wayne Edwards and wife, Vicki, formerly of Athens and now of Wallis, Texas; daughter, Sandra Lee Denson and husband, Donny of Fresno, Texas; son-in-law, Robert F. Ramsey of Buffalo and her siblings; Roscoe Cranfill of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Doris (Dot) Gresham of Athens, Elsa Elizabeth Lindsey of Athens and Charles Martin Cranfill also of Athens. She leaves her twelve precious grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, and many adored and adoring nieces and nephews, all to treasure her memory.
During her short time in Buffalo, she was loved and cared for beautifully by many special friends, including her "bossy" Carol and her "aggravating" sister. Aunt Dot, what would we have done without you? Also we give our sincere thanks to Brandy, Barbara, Liz, Theresa, Jane and many others. We are especially grateful to Home Place in Tyler for giving her a lovely and peaceful place to transition from this world into Glory. She was treated like the gentle Lady she was and their love and support for us will not be forgotten. If you choose to offer a memorial in Mrs. Edwards name, please make it to the Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Texas 75701.
