Bob Wayne Leathers
Funeral services for Bob Wayne Leathers, age 71, of the Ninevah Community of northeast Leon County were held at 11 AM, Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Rev. Jim Grable, pastor of the North Creek Baptist Church, officiated and interment, with a Masonic graveside service, was in the North Creek Cemetery in the Ninevah Community of Leon County. The services were under the direction of Walters Funeral Home.
Bob Wayne Leathers was born in Ninevah, Texas on March 23, 1937. He was one of eight children of Wallace Doss and Shirley Kate (Tubb) Leathers. He lived over 20 years in Bryan and moved back to the Ninevah Community in 1996. He worked at Lacey's Grocery in Centerville. Bob was a "people person" and was happiest when he was with others. He was a member of the North Creek Baptist Church and of the Centerville Lodge # 1291 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. He was always helping others with their outdoor projects. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Wallace Doss "Dee" Leathers, Jr. and Morris Frank Leathers. He passed away at his residence in the Ninevah Community on January 6, 2009.
Surviving family includes his brother, Samie Joe Leathers and wife, Mary, of the Ninevah Community; four sisters and their husbands, Mary Nell and Don Summers, Linda and Eugene Roberts and Liz and Jerry Klawinsky all of the Ninevah Community and Bennie Sue and Ronnie Hilton of Buffalo and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Cliff Leathers, Larry Dorman, Ernest Stubblefield, Floyd Suttle, Danny Lacey and Duane Robertson. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Centerville Masonic Lodge # 1291.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the North Creek Baptist Church or to the North Creek Cemetery.
