School Board honored

L-R Jack and Karen Helmcamp, Ron Goodwyn and Board President Jim Scott fill their plates at a School Board Appreciation dinner held in their honor on Monday night. January is School Board Appreciation Month in the state of Texas, and this week the BISD School Board members enjoyed multiple expressions of the community's recognition of their service to the district. All three campuses participated in providing decorations and a catfish dinner for the board members and their spouses. Each board member was also presented with a purple hooded sweatshirt.

The local expressions of support complement a growing list of accolades the group has received. The BISD Board was named small school division Outstanding School Board in Region 6 and was selected as one of the top boards in the State of Texas last year.

Members of the 2009 BISD School Board include: Willie Gilliam, Ron Goodwyn, Jennifer Humphries, Jack Helmcamp, Dr. Russell Jonas, Gene Pruitt Jr, and President Jim Scott.
