The Oakwood Lady Panthers had an easy game and clipped the Leggett Lady Pirates 66-43 in Oakwood on January 6. The Panthers suffered two injuries as Taylor Tucker hit her head on the floor in the fourth quarter on a collision with another player and was removed from the game and Felicia Williams went down with a knee injury and was also removed from the game. More ... The Leon JV Lady Cougars slipped by the Iola Lady Bulldogs 19- 13 in a low scoring non-district match up at Jewett on January 6. Both teams had trouble finding the basket as the first quarter ended even at 2-2 but the Cougars pulled ahead to lead by nine at half time. The lead increased to ten by the end of the third period and the Cougars held on to win 19- 13. C.C. More ... VS IOLA The Lady Cougars had their hands full as they defeated the Iola Lady Bulldogs 39-35 in a non-district match up in Jewett on January 6. The Cougars had a four point lead as the first period ended and a eleven point advantage at intermission. More ... The Panthers hit 9 for 13 in the first half to remain close and trailed by five at half time. The Panthers continued their hot shooting in the third quarter by hitting 6 of 11 and only trailed by four going into the final period. Kealyne Durham hit 6 of 8 shots in the third period. More ... The Centerville JV Tigers defeated the Anderson Shiro Owls 31-18 in a district game in Centerville on January 9. The Tigers fell behind by three but recovered and led by six points at the end of the first period and by seven at intermission. More ... The Centerville JV Lady Tigers hosted the Anderson- Shiro Lady Owls on January 9 and came away with a 34-11 victory. Coach Parnell has several players on his team and substituted freely through out the game. The Tigers had a six point advantage at the end of the first half and extended it to sixteen points at he end of the third period. More ... The Centerville varsity Tigers defeated the Anderson-Shiro Owls 38-29 in a district game in Centerville on January 9. The Tigers led by eight at the end of the first period and by nine at intermission. The Tigers led by eight as the third quarter ended and held on to win by nine 38-29. More ... The Centerville Lady Tigers won a close victory 53- 49 over the Anderson - Shiro Lady Owls in Centerville on January 9. The Tigers won the game but may have lost their outstanding leader, senior Ashley West with a knee injury late in the fourth quarter. She is a dominant player on the court and one of the top players in the district. More ... The junior high Lady Bi- son returned to action on Thursday and scored big wins over Trinity. The seventh grade won 54-6 while the eighth grade picked up a 48-15 victory. THE 7TH GRADE Lady Bison rolled off 30 unanswered points in the first quarter relying heavily on a death-trap press that resulted in lay up after lay up. More ... BJHS' boys teams came back from the winter break right where they left off: Winning. Big. Both team dominated the Trinity Tigers on the road Thursday. EIGHTH GRADE The eighth grade Bison doubled up on the Trinity team, 50-25. Travis Cunningham had the hot hand for BJHS and led all scorers with 21 points. More ... The Lady Bison took on the district leaders on Friday. Groveton rolled to 5-0 with a 43-33 victory over the varsity Lady Bison. The JV team fell 17-7 in a low scoring affair. The Lady Indians used an aggressive press and several different traps to plague the Lady Bison throughout the game. More ... Buffalo's JV men grabbed the lead early and went on to post a solid win in district play against the Centerville Tigers on Tuesday night. The game was tight in the first half. Dylan Laningham put BHS on the board first and he and Austin Rayborn anchored the Bison effort in the early quarters. More ... Anyone who has watched Tate Hartley play ball knows that the Buffalo eighth grader has only one gear: full speed ahead. Tate quarterbacked the undefeated 8th grade football team, is a defensive standout on the basketball team, and a distance runner on the track team. More ... BHS took on the Groveton Indians in district action on the road Friday night, and both the Varsity and JV Bison men came away with big wins. VARSITY The Bison's injury list Friday included Kirk Ringland, Dakota Champion and Saxton Sims, yet even with their shallow bench the BHS men still managed to pull it all together at the Groveton gym. More ... Centerville came to town on Tuesday and robbed the Lady Bison of games on two levels. The junior varsity Lady Bison led for three quarters, but saw it slip away 38- 32. The varsity suffered from dismal shooting throughout the game and came up short 46-26. More ... Buffalo and Centerville fans enjoyed a thriller at the BHS gym on Tuesday evening when the Bison and Tiger varsity men battled for crosscounty bragging rights early in the first round of district play.
