Dear Editor, As of January 13th, 2009, I, Linda Sims, will not hold the office of President of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce. Although I received 76% of all votes mailed in to the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, the present board decided to ignore the members' votes and voted to ask for my resignation. More ... Jewett, TX, January 12, 2009—NRG Texas' Limestone Electric Generating Station and Navarro College are partnering to establish an Area Technical Center (ATC) at the Limestone facility near Jewett, Texas. More ... The Lone Star Community Center held its regular meeting on January 5, 2009. One of the primary activities of the meeting was to plan the upcoming calendar for the year 2009. The first scheduled event will be a Country Jamboree on February 21. Mary Trull will prepare hamburgers and fries and have them ready for consumption by 5:00 p.m. More ... The Prime Timers Book Club meets at the Buffalo Public Library on the fourth (4th) Thursday of each month at 1 pm. A business meeting is conducted each month with a short program presented by one of the members. Then a lively discussion of the monthly book selection follows.
