January is School Board Appreciation Month in the state of Texas, and this week the BISD School Board members enjoyed multiple expressions of the community's recognition of their service to the district. On Christmas Day 2008, the Lord took home his precious saint, Eleanor Cranfill Edwards of Buffalo, formerly of Athens, Texas. Services were held at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with her pastor, Gene Bishop, officiating. The Oakwood Lady Panthers had an easy game and clipped the Leggett Lady Pirates 66-43 in Oakwood on January 6. The Panthers suffered two injuries as Taylor Tucker hit her head on the floor in the fourth quarter on a collision with another player and was removed from the game and Felicia Williams went down with a knee injury and was also removed from the game.
