Buffalo High School Homecoming events this week
     The Buffalo High School Homecoming is Friday night as the Bison meet the Anderson-Shiro Owls. Leading up to this very popular event on Wednesday evening, at dark, the Annual Bonfire will be lit at the parking lot of the old football field and a Homecoming pep rally will be held on Friday in the high school gym at 2:15.

Buffalo AARP Chapter holds monthly meeting
     The Buffalo AARP Chapter held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, 18 October 2016 at noon.  The chapter didn’t have a guest speaker for the meeting; instead we were entertained by the sweet harmony of the singing group from Hilltop Lakes known as “Sweet Harmony”. These four lovely ladies serenaded the group with melodies from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.

Expo Center holds Ag Fair for Leon County students
     On October 19, 2016 the Leon County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Texas Farm Bureau held an Ag Fair at the Leon County Expo Center. The goal of the event was to teach students about agriculture products and how agriculture touches lives every day. There are 230 fourth grade students and teachers from all Leon County Schools.

Jarrett’s Meat Service is still in Madisonville 30 years later!
     When Jack and Jackie Jarrett started, Jarrett’s Meat Service 30 years ago, there was a meat processing plant in every town. Not so much anymore. They are conveniently located at the Crossroads of the Brazos Valley and their address is actually 335 Crossroads Madisonville, Texas.

Master Gardeners host Pumpkin Patch in Centerville
     The Leon County Master Gardeners once again hosted an incredible week of pumpkins, scarecrows and nutrition for 675 Leon County elementary students. Students from Buffalo, Centerville, Leon and Normangee, Oakwood chose not to attend this year, were treated to a class on healthy eating, building scarecrows, face painting, and stories.

Parker Cemetery holds Annual Memorial Services
     FLO TX- Wow, what a gathering at Parker Cemetery this year. Many agreed there were 75-100 people who attended. Those who missed the traditional gathering the second Sunday of October, missed a very rewarding dinner on the ground. Some mighty fine eatin'!
