First Responders to be trained in Emergency Preparedness
     The Leon County Commissioners Court held its regular meeting on August 24, 2015 with Leon County Judge Byron Ryder presiding. This meeting is normally held on the last Wednesday of the month but because the Commissioners will be attending a conference later this week, court was moved to Monday.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar distributes $760 million in Monthly Sales Tax Revenue to local governments
     (AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their August local sales tax allocations totaling $760.2 million, which represents an increase of 7.6 percent compared to August 2014. Hegar also said today that state sales tax revenue in July was $2.4 billion, up 2.7 percent compared to July 2014.

Stewart Memorial prepares lunch for Buffalo teachers
     On Thursday, August 20 Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church hosted the annual teacher appreciation luncheon in their fellowship hall, feeding over 100 BISD employees and hungry reporters. The church prepares a meal for the teachers each year during one of their in-service days. This years menu included BBQ brisket and sausage and all the trimmings.

Leon County Sheriff’s Report
     8/12/15 Deputy Chris Nash dispatched to South Commerce in Centerville in reference to a burglary complaint. The case is active and under investigation. Deputy Chris Rosales dispatched to East Main in Centerville in reference to a warrant service request. One arrested and transported to the Leon County Jail.
