Bison Belles show well at National Competition
     The Bison Belles traveled to Moody Gardens in Galveston over the last weekend of March to participate in National competition. Despite lastminute changes due to an injury, the group placed in all three of their events. There were 65 teams competing at Nationals. In their division, the Bison Belles placed fifth in Team Pom, fourth in Team Military, and sixth in Team Jazz.

      Simply Spa at 1045 Railroad Ave. held its Grand Opening on Thursday, April 9th. Refreshments were served and the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting.

Buffalo VFD Annual Fish Fry set for April 18
     Coming this weekend Saturday, April 18- -Fun and delicious food; fundraiser for the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department. Once again the Annual BVFD Fish Fry will be held at the Davis Country Store parking lot in downtown Buffalo. Relax, eat and visit with your friends and neighbors beginning at 11am (lasting until all the fish is gone). Enjoy live music by 489 West!

Jewett Flea Festival draws large crowds
     Leon County residents, in and around Jewett, were treated to a beautiful spring day with which to celebrate the third annual Jewett Flea Festival on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Parking was extremely difficult to find as patrons took advantage of the weather to enjoy shopping in the Civic center as well as the Flea Market.

Buffalo Elementary School Pre-K and Kindergarten Round-Up
     Parents of pre-K and Kindergarten children may to register their students on Tuesday, April 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The child must be four years old as of September 1, 2015. Leon County Cooks
     Paul and I just got back from a wonderful trip to Arizona where we visited with kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Such a beautiful place this time of year. The orange trees have just bloomed and most of the fruit is very ripe if not already rotten. The lemon and grapefruit trees are still bearing beautiful, yellow, bright tasting fruit. But it really bothers me that hardly anyone eats them.

     Crockett, TX— ATTENTION BBQ TEAMS!! The Piney Woods Music & Arts Festival is looking for BBQ teams to enter its BBQ cook-off. The first annual Piney Woods Music & Arts Festival is going to be held on Saturday April 25th from 3:00pmmidnight. The festival will take place on Historic Camp Street (3rd St) in downtown Crockett.

     Oakwood VFD will be having a Fish Fry Fundraiser on Saturday, April 18, 2015 beginning at 11:00 am at the fire station in Oakwood.
